About Us

Birds on Niagara is an annual, international celebration of the incredible birds that call the Niagara River Region home. Hosted by Birds on Niagara, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, our festival brings people together from both sides of the border to learn, explore, and appreciate one of the most important bird corridors in North America.

Incorporated as an independent nonprofit in 2023, Birds on Niagara continues a long tradition of community-led birding events while expanding education, conservation awareness, and inclusive nature experiences for all.

We’re proud to share the joy of birds with thousands of visitors each year.

Our Mission

To provide education about Niagara River Region birds, biodiversity, and conservation, and to create an equitable and inclusive birding community.

Deliver Free & Accessible Birding Experiences

From guided walks and photography outings to family-friendly programs, we offer activities that make birding fun and approachable for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Promote Conservation & Environmental Awareness

We highlight how birds and wildlife depend on the Niagara River ecosystem and help our community understand the environmental issues that shape their future.

Create a More Inclusive Birding Community

We’re committed to making nature spaces safe and welcoming. Our programs reflect the diversity of the Niagara Region and encourage everyone—new birders, experienced birders, and curious learners—to take part.

Share Bird Stories With the World

Through social media, newsletters, and community outreach, we spread the word about bird conservation, festival updates, and ways to get involved throughout the year.

Sustain a Strong, Community-Led Organization

We invest in responsible leadership, long-term planning, and financial sustainability so the festival can continue to grow and serve the region for years to come.
